vroom
hey! I got my company car :D
a Mercato Blue VW Polo Classic TDI - yaah.
I can now report that selling your soul(for security or otherwise) feels... weird. The car is nice (very nice), but is it good? Who cares, it goes vrooom and whines when the turbo(a very little one) kicks. :-/)
Bought, Spirited Away and Donnie Darko on DVD(more consumerism) - DD's soundtrack is fantastic.
also, a petri dish with little crystals which settled out of a solution extracted from phalaris is sitting in my cupboard...

Grey Tuesday
I'm trying to get a hold of the Grey Album (DJ Danger Mouse, White Album, Black Album etc. etc.) but all the sites that used to host it seem to have been cease-and-desisted (DMCA etc. etc.).
This sucks.
Here's a really important piece of music that I need to hear AND the artist has made it publicly available AND the internet makes distributing it really easy but the combination of PnP's draconian internet policy (no P2P) and record companies' rabid agression means that I'm stuck here with nothing to listen to but some really horrible Josh Groban MP3s from some idiot's network drive.
*sigh*

DIY
Spent most of the weekend DIYing. The front gates now have a nicely farnished plywood backing which should last quite well.
The FTI project management course is starting to pick up steam and I'm actually looking forward to Wednesday's full-day session.
Also, have started another phalaris ex. - I'm determined to do only the most basic processing this time in an effort not to lose the good bits.

ugh - dull headache
ugh! horrible, dull headache. not sure if it is because it's hot and stuffy in here or because I've been staring at this monitor for hours.
and now I've been told that my car could still take another 6-8 weeks to arrive. fffeeeuuucccckkkk.

windswept and we
Today has one of the first real winter storms in the Cape. The weather chart on last night's news showed a coldfront's spiky blue tongue lashing the peninsula today and that has indeed happened. It's so bad out there that I don't even want to go over to Seattle Coffee Co. for my usual tall latte to go (I can't get myself to say 'with wings' as the staff do).
music: I listened to Norah Jones's first album for the first time and whhile the songs really are beautiful (she has an amazing gentleness about her for a 20(?) year-old) I don't think I'd want to buy the album. The problem with it is is just that: all the songs are beautiful, they're all the same - it seems that real depth and range of emotion is still something that only comes with age. For now I'll stick to Leo Kottke for my folk/bluegrass fix.
